Sylvia Kuhnemann

SylviaFrom exploring the old villages of Cinque Terre and watching the snake charmers in Marrakech to scuba diving in Cozumel and driving a dune buggy through the wilds of Jamaica, soft adventure is my style. Travel to me means exploring new and different places, meeting local people and learning about their culture. Gone are the days of backpacking through Europe and sleeping in train stations. These days, my trips include delicious food, luxury (or semi-luxury) accommodations and convenient, comfortable transportation.

Born to German immigrants, I grew up in Kingston, ON immersed in German culture, visiting Europe once or twice a year until at nine I was able to fly there on my own. It was therefore no surprise that I took a year off between high school and university to work and travel through Europe. This created a wanderlust in me that continued to grow until being in the same country for more than a few months drove me crazy.

I chose to live in Cozumel, Mexico after I finished my graduate studies in Behavioural Neuroendocrinology to be close to the water. I taught scuba diving for many years and became a business consultant to many of the dive shops on the island. One year turned into eighteen as I lived the life most can only dream of on this beautiful and peaceful tropical island in the Caribbean. To this day, I still have a Reggae Beach Bar and Restaurant in Cozumel which I administer from Canada and visit 4-5 times per year.

When my son was born, I tried to stay closer to home but soon realized the urge to travel was so strong I couldn't give it up so I just packed him up and took him with me. At 9 years old, he'd already visited 24 countries and become my favourite travelling companion.

In 2009, I returned to Kingston to care for my mother. In looking for a job that I could do from home, becoming a travel agent just seemed the obvious choice. I plan each client's vacation as if it were my own, researching the smallest of details.

When I met Debbie again in 2013 after 20+ years, she immediately saw what should have been obvious to me......that with 3 passports, 3 languages and 30+ years of travelling experience, designing and leading tours was the next logical next step in my life. I now build each of my tours with the passion I have for exploring exciting new destinations and the attention to detail that I feel our clients deserve.

I love what I do and it shows.
